Azteroidz3D
Even though Azteroidz3D is still under development (version 1.13), the 3D effects and rendered graphics of the space objects are very realistic. The game utilizes openGL.

Disasteroids
This is an wonderful PC clone of the classic Asteroids game - one of the top Assteroids clones! Its realistic graphics and sounds give you an awesome gaming experience in space. You have 10 level to play and 7 levels in authentic old vector-style. NOTE: About 2 years after the reviewing of this game, the author has released an improved sequel called Asteroids II.

Disasteroids II
The sequel is here, about 2 years after the first edition of Disasteroid. Disasteroids II comes with an arsenal of action-filled features and just as realistic sound effects (Yeah, I know - sound cannot travel in space). This clone of Asteroids provides good approximative physical motions of your ship as it travels through the dangerous asteroid belt. However, the danger doesn't end there. To complicate the matter, you have to battle the evil Saud empire. Although without vector-based nostalgic graphics, the game is a rendition in 2D just as its original form 1979. There are 40 levels, 4 types of weapons and 11 types of asteroids.
PC REQUIREMENTS: Pentium 166MHz |

Dispersion

Dispersion is a very fun game similar to the classic game "Asteroids".
Dispersion has many levels and very nice 3D graphics. The control is excellent but takes a bit of time to get used to. Just make sure to frequently use the "instant stop" button, which is a great feature.
Dispersion has a very nice variety of enemies, with a new, more challenging type of enemy, being introduced every couple of levels. The first few levels are no problem, but the game really picks up the difficulty fast so you'd better be on your toes.
The sound is all on par for a game like this, with nice Xplosion effects and music.
Bottom Line: A very fun game that keeps you coming back for more, I'm not really a big fan of Asteroids but I really like this game. Well put together all-around. With an on-line high-score list, you have incentive to keep playing. Highly recommended.
