360

360 is a space invaders game, made in Gamemaker. The graphics are slick and slightly retro but, paradoxically, do not look dated. The basic concept is you have four waves of alien ships approaching your planet at once. They approach from the top, bottom, left and right and you have to defeat them to finish the level.
The nice parts of this game are it's good design and frantic gameplay. However, it does not have the simplicity that would have been effective; instead going for cluttered HUD full of relevant figures.
Most of the levels are very similar. I find this frustrating, because the levels that are different are very innovative, but they are far too few. If the gameplay could be fine tuned and the levels given more variation, this game could easily be an 8. It's obvious potential has sadly been neglected. This is a good arcade romp all the same.

A.M.I.
A.M.I. (Alien Monsters Invasion) is based on the classic Space Invaders game. This version has many humorous ingredients, both visual and auditive, that pervade the gameplay. Naturally, the game is repetitive but it's in the nature of a Space Invaders game. So providing that you enjoy this type of classic gaming, A.M.I is a great cloned version that will keep you busy for hours and hours with its 60 levels and tons of various well-designed alien creatures. I especially enjoyed the different weapons beyond the traditional one. I only found a few minor drawbacks and they are: (i) Save option not on every level (every 7th level), (ii) The alien don't shoot back until you reach level 4, and (iii) Inanimative aliens.

ASCII Invaders
This is a tiny game in the nowadays tiny world of new text-based games. Taking into account the limitation of how far you can visually impress without regular graphics, this is a nice creation with some extra weapon options that you cannot find in the original Space Invaders. Study the Readme.txt file for full game instructions.

Cash Invaders
In this DOS game, your goal is to shoot all the aliens for cash they drop which you then spend on various power-ups. Each power-up has its own cost and effect. The game has 100 levels and after each 10th level you get a bonus level where you can gain more money. If you complete the game, you're rewarded with cheat codes. The 3D-"ish" graphics are pretty nice and boosts the game's quality. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the sound working so I cannot comment on that. Among other things, there's also a nice tutorial mode you can use to familarize yourself with the game. You can also customize the controls if you want to. One drawback is that sometimes you may mix up the alien's bullets with the coins you have to collect, and end up being blown up. However, if you just take the time to look, it will go fine. All in all, Cash Invaders is a nice game that follows the traditional Space Invaders concept, but also adds something new and fresh.

Chaos Defender
Chaos Defender is a Space Invaders clone with crisp graphics, but unfortunately not
much else. You get to choose between two ships, one that is fast but fragile and
one that is slow, but can survive an additional hit from your enemies. With this
ship, you combat software bugs; with each level you complete, those bugs move
substantially faster.
It is obvious that a lot of time was spent developing the graphics; everything
in the game has been rendered, with the backdrops being most impressive. However,
the sounds are rather bland and since there is no difference between levels
apart from the speed of your enemies, the gameplay is quite bland as well. The
fact that the game is skinnable, i.e. you can modify the appearance of just
about any aspect of the game, doesn't do much to save it.
