Arcade Volleyball
This game has collected dust for over 10 years! It's a very old DOS game with EGA colors. It's a 2-player game where each player control a volleyboll player. You setup the keyboard controls in the game menu. Arcade Volleyball has a nostalgic value for many of us. Otherwise the game itself will probably appear pretty "bleached" in our modern game era.

Blobby Volley

This is a cool German 3D game - with attributes like wild, weird and wonderful! It's about two blobs playing volleyboll on the beach. Each blob can be controlled either by the computer or by a human, which makes this game a 0-2 multiplayer game. The computer player (Adam) has 3 skill levels. The rule of the game is simple. You can only score when you serve and the player who reaches 15 points wins the set. I found it easiest to play using the mouse instead of the keyboard. You will probably need some practice with the timing and coordination of the jumps because a blob cannot jump fast. The ball also bounces against the screen edges which takes some time to get used to. Don't expect super-fast action in Blobby Volley, but it's still really neat! On the main screen you can select English, which I think is a nice freature.
Note: The game played smoothly without DirectX hardware support on a 400 MHz CPU.
PC REQUIREMENTS: 120 MHz CPU |

Cannon Smash
This is a very neat sport simulation game with 3D rendered graphics. This virtual ping pong game is tough to learn (hitting the ball) - but once you figure it out it's lots of fun! The person who first gets 21 points wins (the scoring is displayed to the left of the table). There is also a practise mode, but without movements back and forth. You control your position as well as your racket swing with the mouse. Nice authentic sound of the ball bouncing. You can also play this game on a LAN. Playing with friends over the Internet is experimental at this stage. Cannon Smash is still in late development but the game ran smoothly when I tested it.
PC REQUIREMENTS: 3D accelerated videocard with OpenGL support, 300 MHz CPU |

Catch and Throw

Here's the concept of Catch and Throw: There are two people on a team (CPU or human controlled) and two balls. Your duo's job is to to make both balls touch the enemy's side of the net at the same time while the opposing team tries to do the same to you. Don't worry; it's more interesting than it sounds.
You have a selection of six characters, which vary from robots and aliens to little girls who blow bubbles. Each character has his or her own special move, which is pulled off by pressing [down], [left] or [right], and throw ([z]) at the same time. If you don't have a ball in hand, [down] and [left] (simultaneously) will perform a slide. While sliding, you move faster, but you can't pick up or throw a ball. Use arrow keys to move. You'll have to pick a character whose moves and attributes represent your style and taste; it's different for everybody. The AI is pretty intelligent, too, so those who are looking for a challenge shouldn't be very disappointed.
Along with the excellent gameplay is some of the most annoying music and sound you have heard in your life. This game is most enjoyed with the speakers off!. The graphics are only average, but at the same time, they fit the atmosphere of the game perfectly.
The Bottom Line: Catch and Throw is an addictive, fast-paced game with an original, though uncomplicated, idea. Some may not get it, but those that do will love it. Considering the small download size, you have no excuse to not download it.

Cyclops Volleyball
The main reason Cyclops Volleyball rated a 1/5 is because it has no sound whatsoever, which takes away all the atmosphere. The graphics aren't very impressive either, just very simple 2D. The main gameplay, as you might guess, pretty much follows the rules of volleyball. However, the author has left out some minor details that aren't very important. The first person that reaches 15 points, wins. Since the game has no readme file, here are the controls:
Player 1:
Up = Up cursor
Down = Down cursor
Left = Left cursor
Right = Right Cursor
Player 2:
Up = W
Down = S
Left = A
Right = D
Please note that there is also a 1 player mode, but it is more fun to play the multi-player mode.
