Aero Style

Flight-combat games are pretty lacking in the freeware realm so games like Aero Style are pretty refreshing for the stagnant genre. As such, I give Aero Style it's decidedly positive score just for being a decent flying game with decent graphics and decent gameplay. Nothing here will make you say wow, but Aero Style is still a very fun game, albeit a very simple fun game.
You cotrol your aircraft by sliding the mouse back and forth, using the left button to fire and the right button to perform barrel-rolls or to go over-and-behind your opponents. Enemies come to you in waves -small at first and then, gradually, bigger and bigger-, after clearing a few waves you beat the stage and move on to the next one. There are 3 difficulties with 5 unique stages each and plenty of different enemy types so for a game of its size (403kb) Aero Style packs a considerable amount of game. Reccomended for someone looking for 10 minutes of fun that you can keep coming back to.

NekoFlight
NekoFlight is a Japanese 3D simulation game of an air battle between aircrafts. The maneuvering of the plane in air with all its degrees of freedom, and the overall realistic feeling of a dogfight against attacking enemy plane is well simulated. Look out for the incoming missiles from surrounding enemies! You cannot fly frivolously either because you may get into a stall.
The radar shows where the enemy planes are, and follow the arrows which will also indicate what kind of planes they are (eg FX-9). It's tricky to learn and to dodge the swarming enemies. Press spacebar to fire and the arrow keys to maneuver. No sound.

SGI Flight Sim
Silicon Graphics has released this flight simulator as freeware. The author of the game says: "We are giving it away because its fun, and it demonstrates the potential for OpenGL-based games on the Windows platforms."

Shoot
Shoot is fun flight game that shouldn't be missed out on! It's very fun to play and has decent graphics. In Shoot, you do just what you would expect in a flight game; blow a bunch of bogies up with missiles. It's usually that simple. What separates Shoot from other games in the genre is that it has everything it should. It's got fun gameplay, varied levels, good graphics, cool music, etc. Everything is how it should be, unlike many other freeware flight sims. It's the first one I've come across that's really good.
Although Shoot's music is cool, you'll seldom hear it. It only plays in the background at some times, and always during the boss fights. The graphics are totally awesome. So awesome, that you’ll need a top notch PC to play it without slowdown. This is a problem for people with older PCs, and they shouldn’t keep this one on their PC. If you have a newer PC, and you like flight sims, you’ve got to try this one now!
